PCUSA Documents

There are three documents that are vital for the Frontier Mission Program of the PCUSA.

“Turn to the Living God: A Call to Evangelism in Jesus Christ’s Way” was adopted by the General Assembly in 1991. This document sets out the denomination’s policy on evangelism and clearly states the case for frontier mission. It is available as a pdf file that you can download by clicking here. “Gathering for God’s Future” expresses the mission directions for the PCUSA for the early years of the new century. It was adopted by the 2003 Assembly. The first priority lifted up is Witnessing and Evangelizing Worldwide in three different arenas:

• Where there is a need to share the gospel for the first time.
• Where witness to the gospel is endangered.
• Where the church is dealing with explosive growth.

“Presbyterians Do Mission in Partnership” is a key statement also adopted by the 2003 Assembly. It sets out critical principles for engaging in mission, especially as congregations do more and more direct mission. A study guide is also available.
