Kathy Giske is an Australian-Greek born in Cairo, Egypt. Living in an international community, with its many cultures and languages prepared her for her life’s work. Kathy began her career as an official in trade relations and served for seven years with the Australian Embassy in Athens, Greece. In this role Kathy traveled throughout the Middle East and witnessed first-hand the spiritual hunger among many living in those nations. Through this exposure she understood that God had a redemptive plan assigned for every nation. In prayer she saw God’s heart for the unreached. Moved by compassion Kathy used every opportunity to share Christ’s love with those she met. Her love for the unreached led her into a life of service in international mission.
In 1974 Kathy joined the Billy Graham team as interpreter at the Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in Switzerland. There she met and built relationships with many Christian leaders from every continent. Since then, Kathy has served in leadership positions with World Vision and Issachar, and as program director at three world congresses. Through her growing networks Kathy connected resources to opportunities in the form of church partnerships. The focus of these partnerships included work among the poor through medical assistance, agriculture, and micro-enterprise as well as church planting and leadership training.
In 1996 Kathy joined Presbyterian Frontier Fellowship as Associate Director. In this role she developed special relationships with churches coaching them to become missional in practice and character. She maintains regular contact with leaders in Egypt, Turkey, Jordan, and the Iran region and leads vision trips to create lasting partnerships for building God’s kingdom in those nations. Kathy also helps churches and groups in the Pacific Northwest learn how to understand and build relationships with the local Muslim community within the context of peacemaking.
To help your congregation Kathy can:
“As a mission specialist and bridge-builder I empower others to take an active role in building God’s kingdom. We live in a desperate hour. Christians can either embrace God’s power to shape the future or continue to react passively to the forces at work in the culture. I love to inspire people with a bold and life-transforming vision.”
